About the Instruction
The pelvic floor instruction takes place one-on-one or in very small groups. Each student's particular needs are carefully evaluated. Then, in my distinctive approach, I help each person to become aware of the different layers of the pelvic floor and to access his/her own internal strength. This internal strength has its origin in the Hara of the Japanese and the Mula Bandha of the Yogis.
Hand Contact
My method involves direct hand contact. This is not a massage-type of hand contact but rather the use of the teacher's hand to physically experience what happens to the rest of the body when different layers of the pelvic floor are engaged in action. During the process, we learn to recognize that activating the three layers of the pelvic floor is entirely separate from buttock muscle activity, the inner leg muscles and the abdominal musculature.
This approach deepens the student’s understanding of each of the three layers of the pelvic floor and allows her/him to integrate this subjective experiential understanding into her/his daily life.
